Landlord's insurance for Non-UK resident home owners

Those of you who rent your UK houses out, can you share who you use for Landlord's insurance? Our tenants move in next week and I'm struggling to find someone who will insure a non-resident landlord. It's being rented unfurnished if that makes a difference. Have buildings insurance already but our buildings insurer doesnt do LL insurance (we didnt expect to rent this house out but circumstances changed).

Try National Landlord Association. www.landlords.org.uk/ We use them.

...and try a broker too. I was non-resident for ages, never had this problem!

make sure you also have legal expenses, landlord's contents and malicious damage cover. You may also want to consider rent guarantee. And of course all the other stuff -deposit protection, gas safe etc etc.

this is high priority - your current insurance is invalidated as soon as you start the tenancy. There was a terrible story on here about someone whose tenants did burn the house down (by accident) and she did not have landlord's insurance.

Alan Boswell. Excellent.

We're with Sainsburys, have been for 6 years. Their premiums are pretty low and rebuild value is unlimited (important for us as our house, while not very valuable, is listed so rebuild value is high).

I started off with compare the market for landlord's insurance, and from there spoke to a couple of brokers, so I had explained all my circumstances (also abroad) etc. The abroad bit didn't make any difference at all. The insurer we had been with when we lived in the house didn't do LL insurance, but we got the money back for the unused time. HTH.

Second Alan Boswell. Very helpful, and personal, not all rule bound with no common sense.

I ended up using Alan Boswell and they were v helpful.
