Hi
I have an ancient ( 23 years old )and much loved leather pencil case I bought in Germany and am under the opinion its a THING in Germany.

  1. is it?
  2. How much are they?
  3. Where could I get one?

I'm afraid I don't think they are now... maybe they were 23 years ago... I am perfectly likely to be wrong though, as my eldest is only 8 (and has the obligatory 2 fabric covered pencil cases (one folder style for pens and pencils, one cylindrical for glue-stick and scissors etc) in the design to match her Schuleranzen) maybe they are a "thing" for older children/ students, but I've never seen one... not that I've looked---

My very stylish French colleague has one. I bought a (very in-the-style-of) version as I coveted hers so much.

LordPalmerston · 31/03/2014 20:59

It's a really nice one and the leather is buttery soft. Mine is purple.
DH bought me a purse/wallet from there so I wanted to be matchy matchy.

I have one. I taught in a German school in 1992 and all the kids had them. I bought one, and it was quite expensive I think. I still use it now and it is in excellent condition.

LordPalmerston · 01/04/2014 21:53

Having never noticed these at all (associating pencil cases with school children) I noticed yesterday evening that half the adult women who I was teaching English to had them on their desks! I must be very unobservant... Not that that helps you, sorry... I did think of asking them about where they got them, but I was trying to teach the grammar segment of the lesson, and had forgotten by the time that was done...

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 11:23

Oooh. If you see one in kaufhof..

John Lewis used to do Hidesign ones, and Wateratones had nice ones in store the last time I was in - I don't know if either ship to Germany?
