Anyone moved to sweden?

It seems a lovely ( if expensive) place to live. If you have moved from the uk can you tell me how you are finding it, in terms of daily living, making friends, childrens schooling etc.

Watching with interest as we are also considering a move to Sweden.

I think it all depends on why you think Sweden would be lovely place to live
If you ask me some specifics I can certainly give some advice/experience.

I did. We find it less expensive than the UK. But it depends where in Sweden, where in the UK and what you think it will be like.

We both got jobs here. We didn't speak Swedish before we came. It can be really hard when you don’t know the language.

We've been here nearly 2 years. We have expat friends from work, Swedish friends from work, and I have pleasant chats with other mothers in the park now. This is a massive step forward. We moved from town to a tiny village. In town people wouldn't speak to me. Here they are friendlier, but less confident in English.

DS has skipped a year at school. He would be bored if in his proper class having come from england.

Childcare is amazing. We have only had great carers and it's so cheap.

We pay less for our 6 bed house in a village 15 minutes drive from a city than we did for a 3 bed semi in Stoke.

We moved to about an hour away from Goteborg 7 years ago. It can be hard and does take a lot of adjusting, but overall our quality of life is much better since moving. The hardest thing for me has been getting to grips with the language (still a long way to go) and the much slower pace of life.

We found that Sweden can be a very different experience depending on where you live. The first town we lived in was horrendous. I hated Sweden and wanted to move back to the UK. The people were cold and unfriendly and we were made to feel very unwelcome. Then we had to move to a different town and it was like we'd moved to a different country as the people were so kind and friendly.
