Jackson - Mississippi - Positive thoughts only please

DH may have to consider a spell (3m to 2 years) in Jackson Mississippi due to work. Having searched the internet, I am having problems finding positive perceptions of the place. If any of you kind mumsnetters know of Jackson and could steer me in the right direction I should be most grateful

I haven't been to Jackson itself but spent a couple of weeks in the deep south and stayed pretty near it. So, can't comment on Jackson itself but the deep south is fascinating and interesting so it would be a great place to spend some time if you got the chance to travel a bit. I really loved it. You could certainly easily get down to New Orleans (the river road area outside was lovely but not sure what state it is in post hurricane) and up to memphis and all round the plantation towns and civil war stuff.

Thanks Wheelybug - I'm sure the deep south would be a great place for a visit. The trouble is that on expat forums and the like, Jackson is absolutely slated as a place. I've seen the pretty blub on the official sites, but could do with some insider info !!
