Moving to shanghai - a location / traffic question

We are moving to Shanghai in August and just found out the daycare our (then) 2 year old will be attending is about a 15 minute drive from our school ( we are teachers). We thought it was all within walking distance.
Would you live close to the daycare and take a taxi / metro to school with older child, or live close to school and let the ayi take toddler in a taxi / metro and then back again?

And do you have any great info about moving to Shanghai? Thanks!

I didn't explain myself very well. Is traffic insane? We currently live in North Africa and traffic is awful here.
How easy is it to get a stroller on the metro? The daycare is about 800 meters from the station, and I think the ayi would need it. I am planning on just bringing an umbrella stroller - not a massive jogging one.

I used to live in Shanghai - and it really depends where in the city you will be. Some parts of the city are terrible at rush hour. Where will you be trying to go from/to?

There are accessible stations/platforms, I used to have an app on my phone with them on, but have deleted it. It should be easy to find out if you say what line/stop you'll be using.

Taxis are incredibly cheap, if that's an option?

Hi. Yes shanghai traffic is crazy! We lived in pudong, which is a little calmer but it is still erratic and the driving is aggressive. I would live near to the kindy. I wouldn't be putting a two year old in taxi ( few have seatbelts) on a daily basis. Most ayis have scooters. Again it wouldn't be my choice but a lot of younger kids would be sat in front of Ayi on the scooter. All schools have buses to and from the various areas so your older kids should be no problem. As other poster has said feel to ask any questions. Shanghai is as wonderful as it is frustrating. We loved it there. Fabulous community.
