Moving abroad checklist

I'm starting this thread as I'm running through a checklist as we prepare to move to Singapore.

Perhaps those who've moved abroad or those getting ready to move could add and share their tips too so we make sure we've covered all our bases before going?

Currently on my list:

1. let house
2. sell cars
3. clear clutter & car boot
4. get jabs for kids
5. inform tax office
6. check NI contributions up to date
7. organise redirection of mail

Organise a farewell party atleast for the kids if of that age, we missed that and the kids were upset about it later when we'd moved, I just didn't have time but should have tried.

let people know your new address and email

schools for kids in Singapore but presume you've sorted that

take photos of friends for the children

open international bank accounts

find out what you can't buy that you love and take it with you.

Thanks for the tips - the photos of friends for kids I hadn't thought of at all so will organise that!

What's an international bank account? Is it like an offshore bank account? I have looked at bank accounts in Singapore and we intend to keep the ones we have in the UK, but had not given offshore too much thought for now.
