Can someone help please.
There is a poster on the mental health board who is in America. I am not sure whether on holiday, short term or long term.
She has need of access to Mental Health facilities and doesnt know what she should do.
Thanks

Access to mental health facilities is based on her medical coverage if she has any, or if poor enough then based on the state care she can get (if eligible), usually through her county of residence.

There is coverage through health insurance but some states have provision too. If low income/assets medicare can kick in and provide coverage too. Mental health is a grey area and getting coverage can be difficult. I know here in NJ the coverage isn't bad. I was deemed at risk of PND after DD was born and was impressed by the level of support available. However, I know for other mental illnesses the level of support isn't as great.

If it is something life threatening or could cause bodily harm, she can go to an emergency room & they should be able to help. She can also call 911 for the same reason.

As previous posters have said, paying for coverage depends on her insurance.

Any idea what state? My best friend does psychiatric triage in Virginia and would have an idea of where to start.

If it is something life threatening or could cause bodily harm

Yes, that.
But the op hasnt posted again. Hopefully she has got medical attention.
