It looks like we are moving out there next year (2014) with our two preschool age kids for my husband's job. I'd love to hear any tips anyone has about choosing where to live, cost of living, all of that...

Hi! We are in the Silicon Valley area. Have only been here a few months so still finding my feet but happy to answer questions if I can. I find the cost of living to be fairly high but it probably depends on where you are coming from in the UK. I think my answer is probably based on being a recent arrival too as the first few months are probably the most expensive, new cars, home setting up utilities etc. Lots of areas seem to be good for families. My children are older than yours but have settled well in to a school that we are happy with. Pre school is a great age to bring them though as you will have lots of opportunities to make friends. Anyway ask questions if you wish. I believe there are several people on here in the area but it is the Thanksgiving break at the moment so lots of people are busy
