Toddler activities in Brussels

Hello, My husband, my 18 month old and I are moving from the UK to Brussels in the new year (2014). I will be a full time mum and like to keep busy with my little one. Does anyone know of any activities/soft play centres/farms etc that might be suitable for us to go to? We will be living in Tervuren in Brussels. Are there any parent and toddler groups like in the UK where my little one can play and I can meet other Mums? I am also looking for parent and toddler swimming lessons where the teacher speaks English if possible. We have lived in Brussels before but my French/Dutch is not great. I am hoping to have a car so travelling will hopefully not be an issue. Thanks in advance.

The Bct is a good place to start. bctbelgium.org/
They hold local activities & have a centre called imagine.
I don't know of swimming in teverun; as we are much further south of Brussels. However, once/ if you join the Bct it's a wealth of info/ activities.

There are playgroups every morning and most afternoons at Imagine, run by the BCT. If you haven't had a look at the BCT website its probably worth having a look and joining before you move over as they run lots of events for families with young children throughout the year and its a great way to meet other Mums. There are also other ad hoc playgroups going on in the area, I run one in Tervuren that is connected to St Pauls Church and would be happy to send you the details if you would like to come along in the new year? Best of luck with the move!

Definitely join the BCT and get signed up for the the mailing list for your local area. I expect there will be loads on in Tervuren in English.

For softplay, this place is quite good (small by UK standards but plenty to explore for toddler - and free for under 2s!) www.rainbowkids.eu/ It's in Auderghem but outside of rush hour will only be a 10-15min drive.

We like the animals (goats, donkeys and chickens) at Kessel-Lo on outskirts of Leuven which also has amazing playparks (all free, 2€ parking only) and an outdoor pool which does charge entry. www.vlaamsbrabant.be/vrije-tijd-cultuur/provinciedomeinen/kessello/index.jsp

There are lots of us on here in Brussels, I have a 20month old but work full time so don't go to many organised groups. There is definitely loads going on though. Good luck with the move.

Thank you all. This all makes me feel much better about moving over with my little one.

A map of things to do indoors - feel free to suggest other cafes and classes, very quick to add to this map.

A website just started by a local mum.

Sorry I didn't do this runningmad, I couldn't find your map and when I tried to find the website, google kept coming up with other suggestions!
