What's the biggest change about moving?

We are thinking of upping and moving soon.

We currently live in Sweden, have done for 9yrs. The biggest difference were the icecream vans. They sell tubs of icecream. Weird....

Before that, we'd lived in the UK for a few years, but before that it was Canada. For me, it was the warduh for water. Completely threw me.

Had to be the language for me. Trying to make friends and live my life in a language that wasn't my own and that I wasn't very good at was really hard. Even now that I am reasonably fluent, it's still challenging at times and I am not the same person at a French dinner party that I am at an English one, simply because I can't use language in the same way.

Other little things: not being able to go shopping on Sundays, Coca Light instead of Diet Coke (I drink a lot of this stuff and am very attuned to the difference in taste!), drinking habits, driving on the right...

I really miss pubs .
I'd a crackling gastro but not too posh one at the end of my street in London.
If I was locked out , hungry , thirsty or bored I could go and read the papers there .Even took the dog
Loved loved loved meeting a friend after work chain smoking , having supper and way too much wine in a All Bar One ( was
the 90's)
Fake pubs in Asian /Middle Eastern hotels are horrid and would dare go alone lest you get taken for a hooker.
They don't get it in the places I have visited in the US. My friend moans that in Philadelphia she has never been offered a alcoholic drink in 10yrs by her neighbours and only men seem to have a few beers.
Aus/NZ staff give you the " alcoholic " eyebrow if you go to a bar regularly or alone or during the day .
