CBT - IN ENGLISH!

My partner has been awaiting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/general therapy for PTSD for several years. Our plan for when we move to France was for him to remain in the UK for a year to receive some therapy while I go ahead top France with the chidlren.

We have decided that this will be too difficult for us all and so we will asll move to France together in July.

What I am pondering is the likelihood of obtaining such therapy in France from an English speaking therapist.

If any mumsnetters have any clues on this matter then I'd be glad to hear from you!

Thanks.

Haven´t got any clues but depending on where you are in France, you could possibly commute for appointments if all else fails.

If a database of such therapists exists online, it may well indicate the language(s) each therapist speaks... This could be a starting point.

Hi nannyme, I am in Switzerland, not France, so perhaps what I am about to say is not relevant to you. However, of all the doctors I have seen here in Switzerland, and my dh and dd have seen, all but one have spoken fluent English.

Hopefully it is the same in France.

Go onto www.Angloinfo.com, they have info like English speaking therapists on there. French News, the English newspaper in France may also be able to help.

Many French people speak some level of English so I would say that your chances of finding someone are quite high.

Thanks for the advice.

I am an Angloinfo forum member - thanks for that rhubarb.
