Anyone living in San Francisco and/or the Bay Area?

We're moving in September and I was just wondering if there's anyone out there. I keep hearing about how high the rents are and how hard it is to find preschool places and get into a decent school in SF which is all a bit discouraging so I was hoping for someone to tell me that it can be done!

Hi print press, I'm in San Carlos, which is 25 mins south of the city (traffic permitting!)... We have a dd who's just turned 4.
Where are u moving to? And how old are your kids?

We came from London so the high rents/Lack of good quality preschools wasn't unusual for us!

Am just visiting ATM and alli can say is you are very lucky, it's a great place to be. We have circled around, as further south as Carmel and currently in napa. It's very cosmopolitan and yet with a solid grounding in nature and it certainly is bountiful around here.
Centrally yes rents are high but there is a great urban transport system and the pace of the city is very laid back.
The climate is milder as you go just a little bit inland but yes traffic is bad especially on the bay bridge axis.
How about San Jose? Where is work based?
