Hi, me and my family (including two kids ages 3 and 1) will be moving to Dublin in two months. We are looking for a house in a family friendly area where there are lots of activities for kids (eg football, toddler groups etc) and easy to meet other mums as I don't know anybody out there. My husband will be working in Smithfield so we are looking for an area that is no further than 40mins commute. Any help would be much appreciated.

I lived in Donabate in North County Dublin. It is 20 minutes on train to Connolly and Smithfield would be less than 10 minutes on Luas from there.

Great area , two lovely beaches and Newbridge house and farm which has a great playground/forest and lots of animals. Usual football , toddler groups etc. ten minutes from Dublin airport too. Still a village feel but close to city and bog shopping centre (Pavillions) in Swords ten minutes away too.

Have a look at www.magicmum.com which is a good site for Irish mums.

Lots of stay at home mums there too.
