Shipping container arrives in 2 months, what to take to oz?

It's booked and its happening.
A heck of a lot of things to do between now and then.

Any recent experiences and suggestions on what to take.
I'm an Aussie by the way just haven't lived there for over 10 years.

Everything. We did, but then we weren't paying.

We had to leave the fridge because of gas coolant regulations.

We brought our at least 10 yr old fridge (hand-me-down from SIL) - the bloody thing survived too, was hoping for an insurance claim, but it's chugging away resignedly in rather more heat that it was used to!

Apart from that, we had sole use of a container and I brought everything conceivable - down to Lidl moisturisers, deodorants, big Tresemme shampoos, huge boxes of washing powder from Costco (Persil whites and colours) and Comfort. Blocks of plugs from Poundland (3 sockets in one board) so we could (pay to) change just one plug (good old WA), plus UK to Aus adapters bought off ebay - we brought those in hand luggage so we could use stuff like hairdryers, radio etc while we waited for the container to arrive.

I also bought a Squeezebox digital radio, which I found an app for so I can listen again to all BBC radio from up to a week ago, so can listen to the night time show at the right time, if you see what I mean.

Umm, new hoover, just a crappy one from Asda, but it does the trick in a largely hard-floored house, plus a floor mop with a couple of replacement heads. Hot water bottles, heated throw, 1 tog duvets from M&S. We needed to buy new mattresses anyway, but UK king size fitted sheets fit an Aus double, flat sheets fit Aus Queen (their King equivalent) fine. Pillows from M&S.

I have had HUGE use out of this Heated Airer as it's not always warm and sunny, even in Perth , I had one of these sent out by my mum as we're in rented and it saves cleaning the oven : Lakeland Oven Liner

Anything you can stock up on, if only for convenience value rather than cost, as although you can find decent-ish prices on stuff if you shop around, sometimes you can't be bothered, and it's unimaginably comforting to crack open a Soap and Glory body butter or something (well it was for me, a sad person!) Paracetamol is amazingly expensive compared to supermarket unbranded stuff, as is antihistamine tablets - slap an order in with Chemist Direct or the like and stock up.

Right, last few things - I brought 2 huge bags of Yorkshire tea bags from Costco, again, very comforting.. There'll be loads more things but I'll embarrass myself further showing what an obsessive packer I was!

Where are you moving to newbie? I'm in South Australia and it's FREEZING in the houses in winter. I'd suggest stocking up on duvets, blankets, jumpers etc etc to bring with you. If your moving anywhere apart from the tropics you need 'em. If your container arrives in August, it'll be here by November? You'll think I'm nuts in the summer but wait until winter rolls around

There seems to be two schools of thought. I would say my opinion is that's there's nothing you can't buy here! ( oven liners $13 in bunnings for example) we brought a container.. Brought no electrical stuff.. Better off with new .. Has a warranty etc! We got a great deal buying all in one place with 10% discount. We brought some furniture.. Only one bit remains 7 years on! Everything from number one child's room.. Most of it went in the bin.. But helped with relocation that there was no issue with leaving stuff. Lots of sentimental stuff.. Pictures, old school stuff etc. nothing with any dirt on it. Horse equipment cost us a fortune.. All sprayed and treated.. Pine cones.. $100 each to incinerate! Watch the crimbo stuff!
I personally don't get the idea of bringing loads of toiletries etc. really you can buy cheap stuff here.. There's aldi here! Or Costco.. Loads of dollar shops. Yesterday I bought Covent garden toiletries for $3 each!
We brought warm clothes.. Donnas and bedding. Good "Manchester" is very pricey.. I just don't buy 1000 thread stuff! Warm clothes are still in use been very handy when dh has to go to no or uk for work. Saves buying more when they only get used for 12 weeks a year!
It's obviously a personal thing. For me a big part of settling was to forget the old life and start a new one. Where we shop.. What we buy... Is all part of that! I guess if I had sat my my stash of "superior" "treasured" items I wouldn't have been adjusting to find much loved items! Now there's far more I would miss here than in the uk! Some stupid things that I will all was miss from the uk.. But I am very aware my life is just fine without them.. My kids think most these things are yuk! ( skips... Pickled onion chips...)
We had a great time furniture shopping.. Just cheap amart stuff.
If I had the move over again.. I'd bring far less!

No Costco or Lidl in WA unfortunately..! You can get cheaper stuff, but never 16p paracetamol or £1 toothpaste. It gives me a (sad probably) satisfaction using bargains from home, that way I can spend on the nice stuff..

All the kids toys, white goods etc.

When we emigrated to Sydney in 08 all we took was ourselves and suitcases with our clothes and dds toys (she was then 3) we had to buy everything brand new! (well stupidly really wish I had checked out gumtree!)
I then split from my partner of 10 plus years and dds dad about 6 months later, so we split stuff, moved into separate places ans so again had to buy loads more!

I unfortunately run into a very bad relationship and life was a living hell, so my parents came and took me and dd back home in 2011.
I sold everything I owned for $1500 to a couple who responded to a gumtree add!!

This included a huge huge sofa (about 10ft and wider than a single bed) which I bought from a boutique in balmain for £2000, a washing machine less than a year old. A double bed I had bought 2 weeks previously, a huge childrens bunk bed, which was a double at the bottom and single on top. Rugs, curtains, hoover, bedside tables, a tv unit, a fridge, a table and chairs, an outdoor table and chairs, plants, a microwave, a living room unit, pots , pans, silverware, cushions, linen. They was even left with about 5 bottles of very good wine as I packed and left within a week as had to leave for safety reasons.

I have PR (just got another 5 year RRV) and so will be moving back hopefully within 18 months and I will be taking everything with me this time!!!!!, especially lots and lots of clothes!! hate aussie clothes, overpriced and not good so will come with lots of clothes!!! and beef space raider crisps if allowed lol

My container arrives in August, full of shite I haven't missed in a year. I would be brutal and bring cash and not a lot else.

I wish we'd sent a move cube one month ahead of me with the basics, packed bedding in suitcases and then bought everything else off gumtree from all the poor buggers going back to UK and there's plenty of them.
