Having massive regrets...

about not taking an opportunity we had to move to Dubai. We had good valid reasons for turning down the opportunity as DH would have had to do lots of travelling in the region so I would have been largely alone with DS.

But I still want to move abroad :(

Hey, I remember your thread re Dubai and sorry you regret not making the move, but from what I remember it wouldn't have been the right move for you. What are the things you're looking for from a move, and maybe MNers can advise on good locations. Do you actively want to move overseas, or are you just fed up with the UK?

Dubai is a horrible place to live. The grass is not always greener, trust me.

Hi, yes we discounted the move because of the travel commitments my DH would have had over there.

I actively want to move overseas for a few years - I don't particularly want to emigrate. I have very itchy feet and the thought of being in the UK for the rest of my life - bar holidays - fills me with dread. I've always had this bug - I studied foreign languages and have worked overseas a few times in the past. Now I am n the UK in a completely UK based role and I can't do a job that involves international travel because of childcare commitments.

Places that really appeal are the likes of Australia, New Zealand, quieter places in the Middle East such as Oman and Asia (Singapore, Malaysia).

Can DH manoeuvre himself into a position for a move to one of your preferred destinations in a couple of years time?

We are in Singapore and coming out was stressful but I am very glad we did. We turned down a move three years earlier when the DDs were very small then this came up and we gritted our teeth and went for it.

Most DH's out here seem to have to travel a great deal, it is the nature of international business.
