Stupid question about ducted air con

Well, it's started to get cold here in the evenings in Oz, and the house is bloody cold. Half due to the fact that I've broken my leg, so moving very little.

We have air con all over the house, which is ducted. I believe it be reverse cycle as can turn the temperature up to 30. But, nothing comes out but cold air.

The golden question is, am I missing something? Is there something I should do?

Our last rental had the units, and you turned them up to 30 and heated a room really well, but I'm lost on this ducted one. And we need heat ASAP as have guests staying tomorrow. Argh!

I don't know what ours is but there are two control units. The heat one looks like a central heating control on the wall. We have two lots of vents in the ceilings. Big square ones for the air-con with 'flaps' that you can close in the winter and smaller round ones for the heating.

Cheers Savoy. We don't have anything like that, just vents all over. Got dh to check outside, he said he couldn't see anything. But, he's pretty useless. Gonna hop out later myself and look with my wool coat and scarf on

What an idiot I am. I've found a secret panel on the remote control Blush
I feel like a right wally, and have been trying to heat the house all week.

Dh isn't impressed though, as it'll cost loads Hmm

Ha! That's pretty funny. At least you won't be cold.

Longdistance · 02/06/2013 17:58

Well, what's even funnier is I used to live in hotels when I worked, pre sahm, so should know my way around air con units.

Weirdly now, the remote control isn't responding Hmm

Remote control! Envy Swank.

SquinkiesRule · 04/06/2013 04:19

Not in OZ but ours is all in one and uses the same ducts for heat and air con. But on the wall control you flip the switch one way for air, middle for off and the opposite way for heat.
You are fancy having a remote to control it all. I have to get off my bum and walk into the hall.

I clicked on this thinking it meant heating that comes through vents in the floor. Which I have.

But no remote control. Envy

Hey LD how are you doing?

Longdistance · 04/06/2013 18:04

Hi Scone. I'm pretty shit lately. Have a thread on chat going about h leaving me on my own with dd's so he can go to work, and then go to a rugby match. I'm pretty angry now Angry
