:)

Meet!

If I had sons, there's no way on earth that they'd be allowed to play rugby. It is so dangerous. I have worked with too many rugby players over my career (as patients). IMO they need to bin scrums altogether.

For those interested there is an article in Metro magazine about High Schools which is rather timely as we have been seriously considering moving ds1 from private to state opening another can of worms about whether we move again into MacLeans zone...... Interesting read.

My friend is going in for her surgery as we speak. I'm terrified for her and wish I could be there.

DD2 is helping me support her godmother by waking every 45 minutes (bloody allergies) thus giving me time to sit & think while I rock her to sleep again Wink

frikonastick · 21/06/2013 22:03

Crossing fingers vvv

vvv thinking of you

vvviola · 22/06/2013 08:22

Thanks everyone. Apparently the surgery went very well, which is good news. Now comes the hard part for her - chemo and radiotherapy, followed by the breast reconstruction when she gets the all clear.

On a totally unrelated and more inane note - is anyone managing to get clothes dry this weather at all? Half our stuff can't be tumble dried and ends up either getting repeatedly soaked because it pours rain any time I go out, or it stinks because it dried inside. I miss radiators...

Can't help either as we have a dryer (most things), hot water cupboard and a Queenslander style house which I hated when we first moved in but I have 2 huge retractable clothes lines so clothes seem to mostly dry outside even when it's raining then I put them in the hot water cupboard to finish off - ? hang them in the garage if you have one and finish in the hot water cupboard?

We are off to Waiheke tomorrow - am hoping it's not windy - we went to teh market at Pine Harbour this morning and just looking at the sea made me queasy = might need the sea legs!

frikonastick · 22/06/2013 08:46

Great news vvvv! Yes to tumble drier, we still haven't taken the plunge on a new one, so I am doing like, 3 loads a day because I can only dry 5 things at a time...... Our power bill is going to be interesting.......

We don't have a drier so everything has been dried in the garage this week - big overhead washing rack in there. Clothes don't smell as nice as when they're dried outside but at least in there I can leave the garage door open so some fresh air gets in.

I have heard a good way to dry clothes inside is washing rack in a small room, door shut and dehumidifier on for a few hours. Kind of like a slow-action drier.

I had a look at the Metro schools issue today, it was quite encouraging about the improvements in results our local school has made.

vvv glad your friend's surgery went well.

vvviola · 22/06/2013 10:25

Might try the small room & dehumidifier idea WSS.

It's stuff like DH's t-shirts, some of the girls dresses & trousers, my jumpers. So couldn't really justify dry cleaning. But I remember friends at uni used to put all their stuff in at the laundrette for a "service wash" and get it back dry. But was probably tumble dried anyway, so wouldn't be much use. I'm just getting tired of re washing the same stuff over & over. Confused

Maybe I'll just have to make my peace with the chemicals in something like fabreeze until winter is over. Yuk.

BBQWidow · 22/06/2013 10:33

Hope your friend gets her reconstruction soon VVV.

I have to share this. My friend's 9 year old left it for her. s216.photobucket.com/user/konnnix/media/GynaColleges.jpg.html

Evidently, I have no idea about posting links on this website.

You just tick the box underneath that says "Convert links automatically" :)

BBQWidow · 22/06/2013 10:46

OK. Thanks :) I'm a total technophuckwit on this website.

giantpenguinmonster · 22/06/2013 10:58

Vvv- good news the first step went well. I am sending good vibes to you and your pal.

We have an outside drying line which is undercover. And two drying racks in our basement where we run a dehumidifier. I also give stuff 5 mins on top of an oil rad to finish it off while I am in the room. I know this is naughty. I'm trying to hold off on a drier still.

We're spending a fortune on heating atm.

giantpenguinmonster · 27/06/2013 06:58

Bloody hell. I didn't mean to kill the thread!

Checking in from the infirmary. We are playing tag with flu and a tummy bug. Work is manic and I've only been in the office 1 day the past few weeks. DHs aunt has died, funeral next week, trying to get ready for trip overseas and school hols. Manic get me out of here expression.
