VPN addresses to watch UK tv

femmeaufoyer · 09/02/2013 17:48

I live in France and want to watch BBC I Player so I believe I need a VPN address to be able to access it (disguising the fact that I'm in France) Any recommendations?

I use expat shield for BBC I player. I think it is a download and the you just launch it when you want to use I player.

We use StrongVPN. Not free but works well and never had any problems with it.

I use my expat network. Can have multiple devices logged on at once so two o you can watch different things, unlike others I've used

We watch via Film On app on Ipad that we can also stream to tv with Apple Tv. It's not perfect but works pretty well.

Am moving abroad soon too so am very interested in how I can still watch UK TV. NatashaBee where can you download IPvPN?

femmeaufoyer · 10/02/2013 12:09

surroundedbyblondes...we have the Filmon app in the iPad and it was great but recently it's starting playing up terribly, it keeps jumping backwards and freezing. Have you found this?

I use my private network. It's £5 a month and I've been using it for about 4 years now with no problems at all.

It always does a little backwards jump just after we turn it on. But not enough to be really disturbing. Now and again it freezes too. So it's not perfect. But it's sooooo worth it to get UK tv. Not many things from home that I miss, but even DH has to admit, you can't beat UK telly!!

We also use myexpatnetwork. You can have more than one machine using it at once, which is useful. However you pay per machine though so it can add up. Customer service is very helpful, the one time I couldn't get it to work they were on the case fast with advice and it was quickly sorted.

We are in SE Asia and have good results with Hide My Ass .com.

Theala · 12/02/2013 07:24

wé also use hidemyass in France to watch UK and us tv. fiver a month for three machines, it costs us.

ravenousbugblatterbeast · 12/02/2013 07:31

We use witopia. It's $50 a year but dead easy to set up, with a helpline for the really technically challenged (old laptop) like me, and no adverts, stuttering etc.
