Affordable shipping back to Uk?

Looking to ship some treasured books/cds/clothes back to Uk as cheaply as possible. Looking at part-container, i imagine so wondering how this works...
Have contacted pickfords, anglopacific and intertrans so far. Any recommendations?

Also looked at using Postnet to send by seamail as quoting £4 a kilo exc insurance tho
and unsure of service level. We're in Africa so can be a little haphazard.

Thanks in advance

We used Anglo-Pacific but going the other way. We shipped a part container load from UK to Hawaii. I think for that, they had to pack, and they did a good job though it took a little longer than expected (to be fair when you are stopping at >1 port I think it is had for them to give a very accurate estimate). The cost was by volume of the goods, and it took about 12 weeks. We also used them to ship a smaller amount of goods (4 bags and 2 boxes) using air freight which for a small shipment worked out cheaper I think or at least similar. For that cost was by weight. I'm assuming for for heavy things like books, some kind of surface shipping would be cheaper. Anyway we were happy with Anglo-Pacific but not sure if they would be the cheapest in your situation.

Thanks Aloha- they were one of the companies waiting to heat back from.
Mind if i ask what you paid for part-container?

We're starting to think about moving back to the UK so I did look up our shipping costs. For 305 cu ft, it cost 3700 GBP (plus a little extra paid in $ to clear customs, I can't remember but not more than a few hundred dollars) to ship from UK to Hawaii. This was in beginning of 2011. In 2008 air freight (I think they call it 'excess baggage') was $575 for 125 kg. Both were arranged through Anglo Pacific but the air freight charges just come from the airline and for the shipment Anglo Pacific are just acting as a broker for a local shipping company. We needed a broker as our goods cleared customs in LA before then going on a 2nd ship to us in Honolulu.
