I'm having a bad day, help me remember why I came here and why I stayed (12 years so far).

Because people don't behave like your children are a nuisance no matter what they are doing?

Because the weather is generally better than most other places in Europe (don't know where you are, ignore if in Madrid!)

Because people are generally quite friendly, or at least not as obnoxious as in other places.

Not currently in Spain, but hoping to go back there soon. Having a down moment about France myself....

Yes, it's true, my dcs are usually fussed over by everyone. Weather is different down here in the South; unbearable in summer, cold (as low as 0) in winter, so not as cold as the Uk, but no central heating and damp houses.

Just back in UK after 8 years, also in the south but it went as low as -8 one year, with snow! Had central heating in when we renovated last cortijo but the paint still flaked off the wallsSad. Just sold the place for peanuts but missing the 21 degrees it is there today as it's pissing down here, that should make you feel betterXmas Grin.

Liked that DS could go out alone or with friends and never worried anything bad might happen to him maybe misguided and that people thought he was born in Spain as his Spanish was so good even though we didn't arrive til he was almost in secondary school.

Yes, why are the houses so damp? Ours was a monster for mould. I reckon it may be that they have no mechanical ventilation and non-breathable materials.

Still, you can often sit outside on a sunny day in December or January, that has to be worth something!
