Can anyone tell me what is the French equivalent to y1?

Hi. I have a DD in y1 who is French/English and attends an English school. to keep her French going we are trying to do similar topics at home in French as they do at school in English.
However, I cannot work out which would be the appropriate year group to google when looking online for French activities. I have tried CM1, which looks very advanced to me.

It depends on date of birth.

Children born in 2006 are in CP this year.
Children born in 2007 are in CE1 this year.

What is her day/month/year of birth? You should normally consider Y1 to be Grande Section de Maternelle.

September 06. That would explain why I was getting upset by CM1. And she is not very able in her year, so maybe GS would be more appropriate.

Actually, would either of you have any ideas for good websites I could use? I find that there are far fewer websites for French educational stuff than for English. There is brillian stuff on there for English educational acitivities, but maybe I just haven't found the good French stuff.

And, no, you won't find anything good online. You need to buy books from France. Try BLED and Chouette brands.

I would go for CP rather than GS. Cp is the year they learn to read, so as in the UK year 1 are reading CP would be more appropriate.

GS is alot about penmanship and learning numbers, not much real content.

That's what I that about the GS stuff, although the complication is that I don't want to teach her to read in French until she is really confident in English, and she is neither very able nor very motivated when it comes to academic stuff. That's why I thought I would focus on maths and things like RE, where I read for her and she does art work etc. Any advice welcome!

RE is practically non existent in our (Catholic) school and doesn't happen in the state schools at all. Religious instruction takes place out of school in catechism.

The one class they do is decouvert du monde. You might find some stuff search in that.

A second vote for BLED books. They are excellent.

These are good maths sheets. My mother uses them with her primary maths recovery children because sometimes they don't get the concepts and she reckons the French do it slightly differently.

A lot of the language and cultural development will come from books though so if you want to wait for her to be reading fluently in Emglish that may need to wait a while. If it's any help Fremch is often easier to learn to read as it's phonetically regular.
