Dusseldorf... Please help

Hi can anyone tell me about relocating to Dusseldorf? Or anywhere in Germany I guess.

My husband has been offered a job there. We have young children, are currently in a French speaking country where they attend local schools and I'm a bit concerned about the transition...

Is there a big expat community? Is there lots to do for children/families? What's the cost of living like?

Also I'm trying to find more info on taxes...

Bumping for you. From what I remember it's quite industrial but don't know it well enough to answer your questions.

It has a lycée francais, not the cheapest of lycées, but it probably does French-English and French-German.

Germany is quite child friendly, well it has been every time I've been there in the last 30 years. More mums staying at home when their children are young.
