I thought Germans were known for being punctual....or is it just Drs the world over...

Why tell someone they have the first appt of the day at 8.30 am and then turn up at 8.50? This is the second time this has happened. If i go for anything but the first appt I can guarantee I will be there for at least an hour. Does my head in.

Took DD to the hospital for a check up and appt 11 am and was seen at 12.40 pm. Everyone had been booked in for 11 and you just waited for a room to become free for the Dr to give you 5 mins of their time. Private healthcare counts for nowt - just a big fat bill at the end.

rant over

what surprises me is that everyone sits in the waiting room meekly and just accepts someone p@@ing their time away for them.

Have you never caught a train in Germany? Grin

DH is a German dr and he sees six patients in a morning in the outpatient clinic. They all get appt times spread throughout the morning, but they all turn up at 9am (or earlier) Hmm and end up being seen first come first served!

Our KÄ also seems to give group appt times, but I've found turning up 15mins before usually ensures the wait will be under an hour noticeably shorter.

We must have the same doctor, Oder. A normal wait is about an hour and I can be there for nearly three while she flits around doing other stuff.

I don't go any more. But apparently all German doctors are the same.

I wonder if it depends on where you are? I got fed up with waiting once and just went and told the receptionist that I had a meeting and if they couldn't see me within the next five minutes I was leaving. Hey presto, doctor was free. I'm in a big city though and they are well aware that I could find another doctor easily enough.
