Arrgh, had to start a new thread!

Yes,you can get more land in Tauranga. Well, somewhere like Omokoroa or somewhere.Wouldn't want to live much closer than that. And I woulkdn't want to live at he Mount. Lovely as it is. Too touristy, imo.
We would like enough land for a pool (eventually) maybe a sleepout and still enough for a veggie patch and garden for kids. Don't neeed acres +. Wouldn't say no though,if we could afford it! Be nice to have a few sheep or something/

I think Mum would have to fly to Tauranga. So that would be
Manchester-London,London-Singapore, Singapore-Aukland,Aukland- Tauranga
Bad.

justa howws the back? Hope physio was a help,we may have driven past you!
Your house sounds great.
My mums friend lives in Silverdale. She has about an acre with some sheep etc
Wasn't overly impressed at but didn't give it a proper look I suppose, just stopped to buy flowers for Mums friend! Always worth another look

I think maybe tesco sizes are bigger, my ds2 is 2yrs old and generally wears a 18-24month bottoms, did a big tesco clothes shop before we left but had to go back and get 9-12 month bottoms.

Envy about the dolphins

meerkate · 06/11/2012 21:10

Love the image of those dolphins Smile I can confirm that Tesco sizes are huge btw - DD still has some Tesco underwear size 7-8 age 11!

WhatSheSaid · 06/11/2012 21:13

Are the adults sizes big too? I ordered some size 14 tops for me and I'm now thinking size 12 may have been a better bet.

vvviola · 06/11/2012 22:27

I love our dietician. She reckons that to sort out the stopping of breastfeeding, DH needs to send me to a spa for a weekend and sort it himself Grin

Otherwise, not a lot new, except that there's no concern about DD's weight (little porker has put on more than half a kilo in just over a month!), a few very clever hints on how to convince her to take the Pepti junior (which she admitted tastes vile!) and general reassurance that she's getting all the nutrients she needs.

And North Shore hospital are 3/3 for punctuality now... I was sitting in the consultation 5 minutes before it was due to start Grin

Well on their size guide I was in between a 12 and a 14 but I thought I'd better err on the side of caution as a too tight T shirt on my never-fully-recovered-from-pregnancy stomach is not the best look.

Glad the hospital so punctual vvviola. Waitakere were always great when I had pg appts there. Auckland City a bit less so but I think they're a busier hospital in general.

I can't believe he wasn't dimissed over that! He SWORE at you! Did the Head say what they had done if anyting? He at least owes you and the children a MASSIVE grovelling apology.
Sorry ds has had an attack of joint pain, hope he feels better soon.
I think sizes are bigger in NZ, I was a size 10 in my cut offs last year, I was very pleased!
I am much fatter this year after two back to back pregnancies + comfort eating, so am doing no shopping 'til I stop being revolting.
I only ordered one think from Tesco...an aptly named, "cover up".
Our orders haven't' arrived yet, am getting anxsty about their whereabouts!
Poor ds2 got burnt on his knees and face yesterday when I walked into town, should have put the blackout blind on the buggy

Well you are much more understanding than me. It sounded like he had been sitting on that for a while and then blown.
I have worked in Education (albeit briefly, see reason below) in a secure unit. An outburst like that would never have been tolerated. I had to be civil to a convicted paedophile. Near killed me. Point being, if I had said anything to him or any of the other people I had to deal with in my job, I would've been out the door. So I am just a bit shocked that nothing has come of it.
Still, if you are satisfied with the outcome, then that is all that matters. And as you say, you had the pleasure of wheeling ds past him today, think I would have shouted "hallo!Luffly daaaay!" in my best Hyacinth Bouquet!

I am about to watch Downton Abbey for the first time, strangley excited...

Understood. Still think it was awful though!

Not sold on Downton

WhatSheSaid · 08/11/2012 17:49

I've gone off Downton a bit. I used to like it but now I'm not really bothered if I miss it. Maggie Smith is great though.

lollystix · 08/11/2012 17:53

It's all got a bit silly to be honest

Justabout I think you are being massively sensible and pragmatic. I would still want to deck him though Grin

Flights are booked!!! We are flying with Cathay pacific and stopping over in Hong Kong for 3 days at the Disneyland there. Friend of a friend got us an amazing deal with business class all the way, which will be a first for us, so am very excited. And deeply deeply grateful that we will be able to get some sleep on the flights. I am a ridiculously poor traveller (ironically, ive had to do over 40 international flights in the last 3 years) so this really means a lot to me. Can't believe it actually!

vvviola · 09/11/2012 21:55

Ooh frikonastick business class! That will make the trip so much easier (we flew business when we came over a few years ago - just DH and I. The joy of being able to shower at the stopover...)

My thing to ponder for today is that there must be a better option than soft play for those "husband gone away for the weekend, choked with a cold and children bouncing off the walls" moments. Not least because we're there now and when we finish we still have the rest of the weekend to fill up... It's at times like this that I miss hands-on grandparents (and am counting the days til my parents get here in 4 weeks!)

WhatSheSaid · 09/11/2012 22:50

I'd choose beach or big playground over soft play on a day like today! In fact we're doing both, off to a beach with a, er, big playground this afternoon.

WSS I will confess the soft play was part of a cunning plan that involved DD2 falling asleep in the car and me being able to read my book and have a much needed cup of coffee while DD1 worked off some of her excess energy. Blush
Of course DD2 decided not to cooperate and I spent the whole time prising her off the older kids equipment!

Ooh justabout I had forgotten about Long Bay. Have heard very good things about it. Shall pencil that in for tomorrow morning.

I also have another confession to make. I don't like beaches. Blush I get stressed out by the lack of shade, babies eating sand and am generally unenthused by sandcastles. BlushBlush I save beach visits for when DH is around as he loves the whole package and he kind of jollies me along do you think they'll deport me for admitting that?

Playgrounds I can do though. I'll just pack my flask!

WhatSheSaid · 10/11/2012 01:13

You need to find the nice shady beaches. Long Bay is quite shady isn't it? Out west I prefer somewhere like Cornwallis, which has a long grassy bit with lots of trees, right by the sandy bit - as opposed to Piha, which is gorgeous but no shade at all and the sand is burning hot on a summers day. I always plonk myself in the shade under a tree whilst dds (suncreamed up to the hilt) run around.

vvviola · 10/11/2012 06:21

Oh god Piha. Nearly killed me last summer - dragging all the stuff down on to the beach (and my god how much stuff we seemed to need) and having to sit there totally exposed. Sad

Stunning beach and everything, but maybe a spring/autumn visit for me. Blush

I will concede that I don't mind Browns Bay beach too much - grass & trees etc and DD1 can do all the sandcastle stuff.

God, I sound like such a misery... Sad
