Hi, for various reasons, we're spending the school summer holidays in HK this year.... looking for some ideas for fun days with my 5 year old daughter, outside of the usual Disney, Ocean Park, soft play etc. We live in Sai Kung, so beaches are not a problem, just looking for some inspiration!
All ideas welcome!
Thanks

Hello! How wonderful, I lived in Guangzhou china, for four years and popped to hong kong for weekends regularly with my then 5 year old dd1 she is 20 now! Things have changed so much since then but I remember the science museum, Kowloon side and the big swimming pool also Kowloon side were great fun. There was also Kowloon zoo, Lamma island. You probably know these places already Grin I really miss hong kong& china so much, happy memories! I met dh out there, we went to school in uk together when small, we are both British, and ended up meeting in china where I was teaching. He is an engineer and came out there to fix machinery for his company. We have been married nearly 12 years now! Had to go halfway across the world to meet him although he was on my doorstep for years here. Have a good summer!

Hi we'll be here too - I've signed my kids up to a few classes, there are loads so you can pretty much find something to suit. We're lined up for Lego class, sports and even some theatre workshops. I find if the kids have a couple of things in a week or a week course where it's just a couple of hours a day then the rest sort of falls in with beaches, playdates and just mooching about. Google is your friend or pm and I can tell you some of the ones we've used.

Another one bedding in for the summer- having another baby early August so no hols for me.

Got DS (2) in playgroup summer program 2 mornings a week and Socatots 2 mornings. The rest I'll play by ear, but a lot of mooching/ playdates are planned (possibly interspersed with unhealthy doses of Peppa Pig).

Woodies- next weekend we're going to Macau to see the Ice World thing at Venetian- I'll let you know what it's like- might be worth a trip over

Take a look at Lantau! The Palm beach teepees is a fab night away. Great set up and a 10 minute walk down the beach are The Steop and Thai restaurants. Really chilled. The larger safari tents also have air conWink they have a website too.

yes! I was just going to post about tepee camping. We are definitely doing that at some point this summer.
Go on the little ones or sassy mamma HK websites, lots of ideas.

We are doing tennis and swimming twice a week and an art class.
Many clubs and schools (i.e.:esf sports/woodlands schools etc..) offer non member classes in the summer.
I think its nice to have a little bit of structure to have things to look forward to week on week.

We did palm beach tipi's a few weeks back - my two (5 & 3) declared it the best night.... ever!
Go for the day and enjoy the beach, book the full bed package and the air cooler, eat at Stoepes and take wine and marshmallows, let the kids go feral til late at night, get up and swim at the crack of dawn...and go home mid morning to get clean! Perfect Grin

Many thanks for all feedback. Yes, we love Kowloon Park, especially the maze. And I hadn't heard about the tipi's at Palm Beach, amazing, we will be going to Lantau for sure!
