Hi all! I'm new here, v glad to have found this site..
After living in the US for 8 years (had both dc here), we are moving back to the uk on a temporary/trial basis. As we are not shipping anything over, I wondered if we can take any extra boxes on the plane in addition to the 2 pieces of luggage pp. Does anyone know or have experience of this..?

Smile Also, any sort of info/advice is appreciated.! I'm feeling a little overwhelmed about settling in, esp as a parent.. My dd is just finishing kindergarten so will be in Year 2 in the Uk come September.

You can airfreight boxes overseas, they take a lot less time to arrive than seafreight of course but it's quite expensive. Less expensive to do it this way than to take it as excess baggage however!|

Look into airfreight costs and times.

I did the same as Thumb excess baggage is really expensive and they might refused on the day depending on how full the plane is and how late you are to check up. I send 3 boxes from japan to europe via the post office (the cheapest in Japan, you have to shop around to see what will work for you).
You have to detail what is in the box for the customs, and of course not mind if anything is lost. If you have important papers that you can't take with you on the plane I would consider sending them via registered mail and scan 1st them to have an electronic record.

Air freight, courrier (DHL....), post office, sea freight
