i am about to go out there with dh in 16 days time we have the first few weeks in fraser place sorted but looking online at nearby apartments is depressing me, they all seem dark and boring.

any tips on nearby developments to fraser place, as dh is located near, or any other suggestions

Can't help I'm afraid but also going to KL very soon (4 weeks), looked at your profile page and live near you (it's hilly here), so just thought I'd say hello. Good luck! :)

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 05/06/2012 06:53

Asian apartments are usually quite boring unfortunately. It's not just a KL thing. I sometimes think that there are only about 5 approved floor plans in HK and you take your pick

MrsBucketxx · 05/06/2012 07:22

are you where the beacon was beginning with M

15 days now for me eeekkk. i like the houses near damansara heights but its too far for dh to travel.

its all very confusing?

LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 05/06/2012 10:23

I am indeed.

Just look when you get there. We're resigned to that. I have no idea what we actually want, so need to go in person. We have a month in a serviced apartment and will spend that time looking. It shouldn't take long apparently. Have you got everything else sorted?

MrsBucketxx · 05/06/2012 11:26

yes all done mostly. where about in kl will you be going too.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 05/06/2012 11:44

Working between KL and PJ, so really not sure where to live

MrsBucketxx · 05/06/2012 16:01

pj not heard of there is it the next nearest city? are you planning to drive while you are there i have heard the traffic is a bit mental so i want to avoid it if i can

Hi MrsBucket! I'm in KL. Which apartments have you looked at online? The condos I've been in in the KLCC area have been light and modern, not dark and boring. Maybe they are just awful photos?!

PJ is Petaling Jaya, a satellite township adjoining KL on the south-western side. Not to be confused with Putrajaya, a new city with many government buildings, which is further out of KL, to the south.

The traffic is heavy and jams are very common. It's not aggressive but you have to be assertive. The road network is idiosyncratic and a satnav is essential. I avoided driving at first, but I am really glad I do drive here now.

MrsBucketxx · 13/06/2012 21:50

i go in 7 days eeek. seen a few apartments we like now in a block called regency tower, in klcc pretty near bukit bintang.

i just hope we find somewhere in two weeks when we get there.

LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 13/06/2012 21:56

Oh my goodness, good luck! We go in 22 days. Let me know how you get on! :)

MrsBucketxx · 13/06/2012 22:18

i just keep thinking ill be on the plane this time next week. I'm almost packed and have things sorted going away this weekend too, its total madness here.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 13/06/2012 23:06

Madness here too. Shipping went yesterday, house no-where near rentable... Are you flying direct with MAS or via Dubai?

MrsBucketxx · 14/06/2012 09:07

via Dubai from birmingham with emirates. 7 hours then a three hour break then another 7 hours.

are you flying direct?

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 14/06/2012 16:20

No, doing the same but staying in Dubai for a couple of days. Do you have children?

MrsBucketxx · 14/06/2012 18:08

yes two small children, a ds and dd, under 2.

i just want to go now sick of waiting its killing me.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 14/06/2012 20:04

I know the feeling. Still at work until a week before we go, hard getting anything done. Mine are similar ages, maybe we should meet up there?

MrsBucketxx · 14/06/2012 21:36

that would be nice, i think i will need to really try and make freinds over there dh will be working long hours and not home till late.

are you thinking of getting home help/ a maid. dh is really keen on the idea but I'm really not so sure.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 14/06/2012 22:46

I'll be working, DH SAHD, so he'll have a lot of free time, me less so. Really not sure about help. Not to begin with for sure, while he's at home, but maybe if he gets a job eventually. Certainly a p/t cleaner though.

MrsBucketxx · 29/06/2012 09:46

well i'm finally here and we have looks at lots of apartments, some have been very bad but most have been ok. we have found two we like here and are just trying to sort a few things out before we move
here is a linky to the condo's we like www.somerset.com/countries/malaysia/kuala_lumpur/marc_service_suites_kuala_lumpur/marc_service_suites.html

fingers crossed things get sorted asap.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 30/06/2012 22:25

Glad you got there safely, how is everything going? How did you decide on an estate agent? Do you think I should book with one now before we go? We get there next weekend and only have a week before I have to start work, so not much time for viewing condos.

The apartments look great. :)

MrsBucketxx · 02/07/2012 05:38

we have sorted one in marc residence, as for the agent we had one sorted through dh's work and one other we found through iproperty.com

the agent through garys work managed to negotiate a better price for the appartment we decided on. it's a three plus one (a four bed basically) and got new rugs curtains and cooking items also.

feeling a little lonely today but its only cause dh has gone to work for the first time in three weeks.

marc is a serviced residence so we have the option of a cleaner if we need one we also could use the babysitting service too.

had a bit of an emergency with scarlett as she has an allergic reaction but the hospital was really good and she has medication for th next few days.

how long is it till you move over here.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 02/07/2012 08:12

Dubai Friday, KL Monday. :) Nightmare few days ahead of us now, as I'm sure you'll appreciate. Ugh.

MrsBucketxx · 02/07/2012 08:53

the last few days didnt seem real to us at all. flight was better than i thought too. emirates where really good with the children and flew on one of the new airbuses a380.

have you desided on where in kl you will be staying yet?

OP posts:
MrsBucketxx · 02/07/2012 08:54

decided i mean.

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 02/07/2012 10:33

Not yet, we're going to wait until we get there but thinking probably Bangsar.
