WWYD - Relocation on Friday 13th?? Superstitious?

We are relocating within Europe, so would be using 'safe' airlines. I dont like flying very much at the best of times.

I cant work out if Im being silly with my superstitions. However, when I think rationally (not often at the moment) I think its just another day and the 'hype' is rediculous. Otherwise I think the whole thing is doomed.

O wise MN. Would you relocate your family on Friday 13th?

If not, do you:
a) DH or myself take the 3 DCs alone (yikes!) the day before and the other stays behind to finish up then fly over.
b) Hang around for a day or so after finishing packing/leaving house (book a hotel etc) so we fly Sat 13/Sun 14. Emotionally it might be tricky to hang around after we have packed up.

Thanks

Almost every time I've moved country (I've done it a few times now!) I've booked a hotel for the last night after the packing/moving out is done (or gone back to my parents' house). There's always the risk of something going a little wrong or not to plan and it gives a little leeway.

For example, our last move - the shippers were due to arrive at 8am. Due to ferry delays, bad weather and a few not so convincing other reasons, they didn't arrive until 7pm Angry. If we'd had a plane to catch it would have been a total disaster.

So I'd go with staying an extra night in a hotel, book an early afternoon flight the next day and so have plenty of leeway built in. And avoid any Friday 13th issues Grin

agree with vviola- although the superstitious thing wouldnt bother me.

You definitely dont want to be flying the day the packers are due to finish. Give yourselves a night in a hotel and fly the next day. They nearly always overrun.

Is it Italy? Because there Friday the 17th/19th (can't remember which) is the 'unlucky' day.

Loopy - no its not Italy but I guess there are loads of 'unlucky' days so Id better not ask locally!

Good points Viola and Richmanpoorman, I will plan a leisurely day after they finish packing just in case.... Perhaps I should book myself into a spa!

Viola - did your last night in the hotel feel very odd or where you too tired to think of the emotional aspect?

Thanks alot for talking me down off my cloud of madness...
