Hello,

We are currrently living in Hanoi and soon to move down to Saigon. We're looking forward to the change but finding it very difficult to find out any community info on expat forums and the like.

We are Homeschooling our six year old daughter so don't have the luxury of meeting friends at the school gates! I would love to hear any recommendations for having fun with kids and am particulary interested in any kinde/international school after-school programs offered to the wider community.

I know the International Montisorri School offers a great program and the Dancenter offers good classes. Though I wonder if anywhere has a cheaper ballet class? Rainbow school offers 1hr classes for 80,000vnd up here in Hanoi so I was hoping to find something similar.

Thanks in advance for your time! Thanks

I'm not there now, but was in Saigon for 3.5 years (left 2 years ago). I think what you need is the Google Group called An Phu Neighbours. That was always a good source of info when I lived there. I think I remember reading about homeschoolers on there, so you may find some others in the same position as you.

My daughter was only 7 months when we left so we hadn't graduated from 'mum & baby' groups by that stage, so I'm afraid I can't really help otherwise.

My guess would be that District 2 would be the best area of town for kids' activities. District 7 also has a lot of expats, but more Asians than Westerners (who tend to gravitate to D2).

Good luck on your move (I enjoyed our time there a lot) and hope you find some useful info!
