Does anyone have a PO box?

I'm in Australia and we're having problems with postmen leaving mail outside, rather taking the parcel back to the post office and leaving us a card to pick it up. (This is an ongoing issue).

Are internet companies okay sending stuff to PO boxes? I buy a lot from overseas, Book Depository, CD WOW, Amazon etc.

Thanks in advance

I live in oz and have a PO box. Have no trouble most of the time. I order from amazon and eBay mostly. Every now and then I find a company that won't post to a box but that's rare.

Shouldn't be a problem unless they require a signature.
I personally much prefer things to be left than to have to go and collect them though.

Thanks both. I can't believe the stupidity of the postman, leaving parcels on top of our letter boxes (block of flats with letter boxes outside) on a main street!

If things are to be signed for would the staff at the Post Office dealing with the PO boxes not sign for them? How else would that be dealt with?

Yep- that's just dumb!
Ask your local post office how they deal with it. I would think most parcels would just be held there, but it something has to be signed for it may be better to have it sent to your office?

Yes, we only have PO boxes out here - there are no postal deliveries to our homes as we are too rural (I'm in Canada).

Occasionally sites want to send stuff via a courier, rather than the postal service, and in that case you cannot use a PO box address and we have to give our street address but then the parcels go to the local (18km away!) delivery point, which is in a store in the nearest village, and we go and collect them from there. I'd assume in your case they'd go to your door.

If something goes to the PO box address that needs signing for, you have to sign when you collect it from the post office.

The PO box itself is only a small lock-box, so the post office staff leave a card in the box when there's a bulky parcel to collect and you go to the counter and get it from them (regardless of whether it needs a signature, or not.)
