German furniture chains/stores

We're looking for some very modern-style dining room furniture (sideboards/cupboards etc) and have seen something like what we want in Moebel Martin. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any other big German furniture chains or stores... we live in Luxembourg but some of them do seem to deliver here :)

Tbh, most German people use Ikea for that kind of thing. Smile

Bonsoir · 19/02/2012 19:54

What about French furniture?

Weta · 19/02/2012 20:33

YouCanDoIt here too, but we're kind of sick of Ikea and would like something different...

Bonsoir we do go to France for most shopping as DH is French and we speak the language, but we have been a bit put off by the quality of places like Alinea, where we bought furniture a few years ago. But if you have other suggestions of places to look?

La Redoute do furniture which is quite often featured in very reasonable decorating magazines.

Bonsoir · 19/02/2012 20:37

Why don't you buy Elle Décor, Marie Claire Maison etc and have a look at the back? There will be plenty of addresses of websites for online ordering.

We have Belgian dining room furniture which I would link to only I cannot remember its name right now Blush. Belgian furniture is often very nice, if big.

Thanks Bonsoir, that's a good idea for the magazines. I didn't realise La Redoute did furniture, will have a look there too. Belgium would be fine as well, it's just I have even less idea about their shops than the German ones :) do let me know if you remember the name!

We go to XXXL - they have a huge range of furniture and prices. Our whole living room/dining room is from a company called Voglauer (but we bought it from XXXL). They do gorgeous real wood furniture but in modern designs - all of ours is in wild oak. Not sure if they deliver to Luxembourg tho.

Porta is lovely and seems to be really good quality.

Thanks for those suggestions!

Pallen - I know they deliver in be/nl.

PetiteRaleuse · 22/02/2012 18:15

There are some new furniture shops in just outside Lux city - have you tried any of them?

PetiteRaleuse · 22/02/2012 18:16

Otherwise I'll often be found in Conforama / But / Fly in Linkling, Thionville. But's customer service is shite, but some of their stuff is quite nice.
