How well do you know Melbourne? Have you visited for long periods of time, at different times of the year? Do you have friends/family there? How easy will it be for you and/or your DP to find work? Have you contacted the Australian Embassy in the UK to find out about visa requirements and so on?

Have a look at www.britishexpats.com Everything you need to know will be on there.
Also there's a site specifically for Brits in Victoria/Melbourne. Can't remember the URL but if you google Britvics it should come up.
We lived in Melbourne for 5 years, came back to the UK last year but it's likely we'll be returning later this year.

Is this actually happening or are we talking hypothetically here?
Do you have jobs/visas lined up or are you starting from scratch?
Melbourne is a lovely place to raise children, but obviously it's not for everyone (nowhere is!).
If you give us more info we can give you more info!

you need to be sure you qualify for a visa before anything else.

Hi
I have exactly the same dream, and I m like you , lost. I don t know where to start.
Because it s a big change and so much things to do: the budget, visas, flights, jobs oh why is it so hard I have been dreaming to go in Australia for years...
I m a single mum and that s another challenge!

Bubbaluv · 29/02/2012 06:43

Do you know if you qualify for a visa Coumba? If so, what sort of work would you do and where would you want to live? How old are your children?
