Has anyone shipped furniture from Germany to the UK?

I'm thinking about raiding my family home for some furniture(that is not being used, I'm not planning to pull the chair out under my mother's bumGrin) and am wondering if I could have them transported to the UK.
Has anyone ever shipped a few pieces of furniture( not a complete household) to the UK? If you have, do you remember what company you used and how much you paid?

Hire van and drive over for the weekend? We did it the other way round though - raiding the house in uk to take a few items of furniture to Germany... ( from memory, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a stool, and a tall boy thingy.)

I was thinking of bribing my brother to hire a van and bring it over for me. Guess that would be easiest. We have a toddler, don't think she would enjoy a weekend in a van at the moment.

We've used Pickfords to transfer belongings to and from South Africa, and were very pleased with their service, if that's any help..

Don't suppose any of this involves going anywhere near Fulda/Erfurt or the Hull-Rotterdam ferry, does it?

We happen to have the same dilemma - a couple of bits at my parents' in the UK which we want to bring over to us in Germany.

PM me if you think there might be a way to combine the two!
