Microsoft scammers now calling Belgian numbers

That's it really. You may remember the threads on here about the people purporting to be from Microsoft who call about the error messages on your computer. I got called today (and should have just tried to speak in Flemish to them) and they tried to tell me about the error messages. I asked how they had got my unlisted number, and they put the phone down - shame, as I was about to tell them I use Linux. Be aware anyway and try Flemish as this guy didn't sound like either a Flemish or French speaker.

Interesting.
I've heard from other people too that they've been called...

I was called 2 or 3 days ago. Angry

Ruthchan · 02/02/2012 21:05

Really Lozzy?
I look forward to my call soon then!!

lozzyblue · 02/02/2012 21:35

Yes. Freaked me out a bit to be honest.

I had never heard about the scam but realised the guy wasn't genuine. I kept questioning him and eventually he hung up on me.

He was asking me to go to my computer - I guess they're attempting to gain access to your hard drive or something?

Anyway, I contacted my hubby who confirmed it was a scam call...

Interesting. I've had a couple of calls where the caller has hung up when I've answered. Maybe I just scare them off with the sound of my voice?!

Thanks for the tip.
