I've got the opportunity of a fantastic job in Mornington and can start in 6 months depending on visas etc. I'm a bit worried about the distance from Melbourne for my husband as he will have to commute to the CBD for work most likely although we would start with me working and him looking for work while sorting out schools, childcare etc for my DC 5 and 2. Does anybody live around Mornington, and, if so, where? Am I mad to consider work here if my husband has to commute to Melbourne? Is there somewhere closer to Melbourne where we could rent and I could have a short commute to work myself, so easing the pressure on DH? At the moment we share childcare, with DH doing pick ups and me doing drop offs. If he has a long commute it will all fall on my shoulders, but I'm hoping to work 9-5 or 8-4 4 days per week.

Any idea about schools and nurseries in the area? Any advice gratefully received. It's all v exciting, but scary too!!

Bumping for you.

I would say its do-able but not comfortably so. I don't know what the Nepean Highway is like at that time in the morning.

We live in the eastern suburbs and when we went to the Redhill market a couple of weeks ago it took us an hour to get there using the Eastlink.

Thanks, the other option I have is to work in Canberra which will mean a very short commute for both myself and my husband as I have no restrictions on where I can work there. Do you know anything about Canberra and whether this would be a reasonable option for a few years?
