Hello, anyone in Brussels?

Am living in Brussels and have been for a few years. Made a few nice friends through the BCT but now several of them are leaving in the next month or so as contracts come to an end.

Feeling a bit sad about the prospect of starting from scratch again, as it were. The problem is that I'm quite shy and reserved and find it really quite tricky to make friends and move forward from the nodding acquaintance stage, if you see what I mean? The thought of starting it all again makes me feel a bit overwhelmed!

Such is the lot of an expat abroad I know, but just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and what they do about it?

Anyone in Brussels? There seem to be hundreds of us MNers here!!
We even have our own group on Facebook!

I live in Waterloo and completely understand how you feel.
After 3 years here, my mobile phone is full of numbers, but more than half are old numbers belonging to people who no longer live in Belgium.
It's so depressing, isn't it.

However, there are plenty of people around who are here longer term.
The BCT even has a lifers group for those who won't be going away anytime soon. It was set up by Longtimeinbrussels, who will probably find this thread before too long...

Hi AmI, we have a spreadsheet of people here. I'll pm you so you can add your details if you like. Also, as Ruthchan said, we have a closed facebook page so you have to be friends with one of us to join. There are lots of us here and we're going out next Friday evening if you'd like to join us!

Oh yes, get on the spreadsheet! Longtime is very organised, and normally I am good at sorting lunches/nights out, but have been a bit stressed at work in recent months......I promise to be better....

I am not sure of exact numbers - certianly 30 plus Belgian MNetters....
