Birthday parties

we moved to Egypt six months ago ( have also lived in Uk - I am Canadian - Taiwan, china and japan, but Egypt is the first move with our child)
our dd turns six next week and we are really struggling with her birthday party. In Egypt, kids parties are very much a family thing, where people bring their nannies and both parents to a party. We are asking for parents to drop off their kids ( we both teach at the school the kids go to, so they know us) but now worried it will be a flop and our dd will be so disappointed.

we have tried t o prepare her that even if many kids don't show up, she will still have her class party and that will still be fun, but she is so focused on how much fun her previous parties have been with lots of friends and family around.
She is also missing her grandparents and cousins / friends and I think that is a big part of my stress. How you help your kids to accept that things like parties are going to be different from home?
