presents to send to HK?

I'd happily scratched BIL & SIL off the Christmas list as they have moved to HK & we won't see them, but a huuuuge parcel just arrived from them (no idea what's in it!), so it's only polite to put them back on it... They have plenty of money, have been in HK for nearly a year, & have two small daughters - I can cope with shopping for the kids. I don't know if there is anything they might be missing from the UK, I assume you can get pretty much everything there.

Any brainwaves? Cheapish, small, postable, ARGH.

You can get pretty much everything in HK.... except decent cadburys chocolate (in HK it comes from australia and has a vile anti-melting additive). Kids clothes are cheap and plentiful in HK, books are more expensive tho - sticker books and things might go down well (or english kids magazines, animals/cars type, they don't exist in HK).

For bil and sil - difficult! Only other thing I can think to suggest is that if you google florists in HK there are plenty which do fantastic arrangements and will do delivery. I've used these in the past with great success. Might be a nice surprise for them to receive some lovely christmas flowers from you? HTH

We can get most things........at a price as imported in small wuantities for the expat market so $$$$$$$$$$$$.

My suggestions -

English chocolate, English teabags, English marmalade, books that aren't bestsellers (i.e. we only really get the big titles in HK- enough of the Jodi Picault already),

My mum always gets me the Matt annual (he's the cartoonist in the Telegraph and is brilliant)- that's less than a fiver I think. Private Eye annual.

I like the Private Eye annual idea. Is it any good for people who have been out of the country for several years and may not have heard all the ins and outs of the political stories?

RealLifeIsForWimps · 22/11/2011 00:04

Yes, I think so because actually, so much news is global now, and if they're like me, they probably have a flick through the online British papers anyway- the English language paper here is rubbish so we all tend to just read the British/US ones online

Love the Private Eye annual & the florists! Brilliant, thank you.

The Book Depository will ship to Hong Kong for free. Books are usually shipped individually, but not wrapped.
