Moving with older kids

Hi there, we are hoping to move to Doha in the New Year. I have a 12yr old girl & a 10yr old boy. I'm concerned about the 12yr old. Is there anyone here who lives there with kids of similar age??? Looking for some advise on how to approach the move with her. She is a home bird like me but this is a good opportunity for us. All advice welcome.

Sorry, no advice but bumping for you. We are moving to Phnom Penh next July with DD3 14 year old and a just 16 year old DS, so would be really interested in any answers you get. Do you have schools sorted?
Our DS is a "homebird" but I am beginning to understand he is more of a "family bird" - so where the family are he will be happy (although we are leaving DD1, 2 & 3 in England).

No I've not got any answers yet. We are just starting to contact the schools. Its a bit daunting to be honest. We haven't told the kids yet as we are flying over in the new year to finalise things so i'm not saying anything to them until we come back as likely hood is my husband will move over first and we will follow for Sept school term. How long are you moving away for? Do you have schools sorted?

Are the school terms the same in Doha? In Phnom Penh they start at the beginning of August, so we are moving in July to have a few weeks to settle before school starts. We are in the process of applying now for one specific school we want. - we had planned on moving for the school term to start in September, but found out we would not have got places to start after the term had started, so now DCs will not have a very long summer holiday next year, although we may pull them out early here before we go to give them more of a break.
We will be there for at least 2 years.

GOod luck!
