We have been living in France since May (DH is French), we have our carte vitale sorted and are trying to decide whether to get the top-up insurance.
The cheapest quote we have is 700 euros a year for very basic cover. We are on 70% reimbursement anyway, so we would need 100 GP visits to break even! We are all in good health so it doesn't really seem worth it (although we are looking into how much hospital costs could be). Obviously we would reconsider if one of us developed health problems.
BIL and SIL don't have the top-up because they think it's too much. We are also leaning against it but is this a bad idea?
Thanks for any advice!
