Applying to primary schools in France for January arrival

Hi all,
I am planning a family sabbatical in Montpellier, France for January-July of next year. My husband speaks French but my son and I are just starting our studies (we both speak Spanish and English).

Will French schools accept him mid-year?
Should I start now trying to register him for a space?
I am looking for a private bilingual school in/around Montpellier.
Any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!!!

French public schools will be obliged to accept you as soon as you are resident: you just go to the mairie and register him. They will find you a space where there is one available which might not be your nearest school. As regards private schools that will depend on the schools admissions policy. You should start contacting them as soon as possible to see what they say. I can't comment on bilingual schools in Montpellier (I would expect there are some) but you could try looking on a website like angloinfo (can't remember the URL but you could google it).
