Question about Serangoon, Singapore

Hi,
We're probably relocating to Singapore in the Summer and our 3.5 year old daughter is going to go to the Australian International School or to Tanglin Trust. I've got heaps of info about the ex pat areas close to Tanglin but can't find much about the area around the Australian School (1 Lorong Chuan, which is in an area called Serangoon from what I can work out).
Does anyone know anything about this area that might help me decide if it would be a good place to look for a condo/house for my family (husband, me, two daughters aged 3.5 and 20 months and a baby on the way)?.
Many thanks for any help you can give.

We left Singapore last week (just moved to Houston) - after a 2 year stay and our boys went to AIS. We lived at Bukit Timah, about 20mins from school and 20mins from city. Serangoon is great for school esp as you will probably be doing half day pickups - although if you have a car, its not so much of a problem. Lots of families lived at the Chuan which is right next to school and I think Gold Hill which is also very close - both condos but depending on your package, if you can get a house, that is good too. There is also an MRT very close to the school which is handy. Its a nice area to live and very convenient to school esp with the new baby - congrats!

feel free to pm me if there is anything you want to ask.
