Shipping to NZ

Can anyone recommend a good shipping company who can be trusted to ship our belongings from the UK to NZ? We will be taking everything with us. Someone recommended White & Co. to me so we have approached them for a quote but would like quotes from at least another two companies if possible. TIA.

We used Anglo Pacific. Nothing got lost, nothing got broken or chipped.

We used Doree Bonner - they were excellent

We used Anglo Pacific here as well (though we came to Brisbane). Again, nothing lost or broken, fantastic packers in the UK.

Make sure the quotes are on a like for like basis, ie if you have a full container is it going straight to NZ or changing ships somewhere like Singapore. If it's not enough for a full container, check timetables for shipping. (We only had 250 cubic feet and had groupage. Took ages.)

Check if they use a contractor at this end. We had two different ones and the second damaged loads of our stuff through pure carelessness. I saw them do it. Grrrrr.

We used Bonners as well. They were great. The used The Moving Company at the NZ end who were equally good. They even put up with me ringing every week or so asking exactly where our entire worldly goods were at that point. 3 months sleeping on inflatable mattresses is not good!

We also used anglo pacific. Packing guys fantastic but something did get broken and they refused to pay out although the packing guy phoned there and then to say he had broken it.

I would use somebody who regularly ships to NZ, as MAFF can be a pain and having a shipping company that can get everything cleared quickly and smoothly is worth every penny. I have to say anglo were good from that perspective.

We used Britannia in the UK and then NZ van lines took over in NZ.

They took our container off in Sydney for no apparent reason and we had to wait an extra two weeks.

The unpackers put some stanley knife cuts in my piano, but compensated us for it. No other damage.

Thanks everyone. Hi there Tortoise! Would love to come back to Australia (maybe one day?) but jobwise nothing doing in Australia, while there were plenty of opportunities in NZ.

We used Anglo Pacific 10 years ago and they were fine for us too.

We used Anglo, they were ok, but didn't pack boxes well to utilize space well. We ended up with lots of half filled boxes - which pushed the prices up.

Also their inventory was very poor with minimum details which meant MAFF had a field day going through all our belongings -which cost is a lot of extra money just for them to check and also delayed us getting our goods.

They were very strict about letting us know what wouldn't be allowed into NZ. But when we got here lots of people had brought over stuff they told us we couldnt

don't fall for their offer to sort out your final taxes. The company don't follow up with you if the tax man tries to contact you

I've used GBliners to move from Edinburgh to Vancouver and back and they were fantastic. I'm using them again for our move to Toronto. We did all the packing ourselves and only used a partial container so it was cheaper, but the service was door to door.

They do offer the full packing service too - I was just trying to save money!

I used Pickfords to and from Vancouver. Not a single thing broken either way; nothing damp or mouldy.
