Elegant French restaurant for business dinner in Paris?

A friend is going to Paris for business and has asked me to recommend an elegant restaurant in Paris for a business dinner. I haven't lived in Paris since 2002 (although still dream about dinner at Alain Ducasse ) so can anyone advise? I don't think budget is relevant and I'm guessing pretty central .....

Can we have some idea of arondissement, please? I ate in one the other day that the Obamas ate in when they came to Paris. I can't remember its name but it was near the Eiffel Tower. I can find out.

Erm, no idea where he's staying but I'm guessing 6th, 7th, 8th, 16th, 17th wouldn't be too far..

Le Voltaire always gets good reviews from friends who go to Paris for a very French dinner.

La Fontaine de Mars - that was it. In the 7th.
Le Flandrin in the 16th, right next door to Henri Martin RER.
The Hotel de Crillon in the 8th.
Le Petit Victor Hugo in the 16th is quite nice.

Apicius looks nice, Bonsoir - just round the corner from my office, too. Must give it a go! (I need to email you - will have to do so after Easter as I am on early Eurostar tomorrow and g=have world's worst hangover today.)

I do like the Crillon. I use it as an extension of my office and slope off there to the cafe or bar. I haven't actually eaten there, though, apart from the copious trays of nibbles that come with the cocktails.
