Moving to Adelaide.

Hello, we arrive in Adelaide on Friday. We are temporarily in Melbourne but are moving to Adelaide.
We are staying for a month in Glenelg but plan on renting in the eastern suburbs is rose park etc.
Has anybody any experience on those areas and schools etc.
We are very excited!

ooh how exciting lulalullabye. Glenelg is great, in a seasidy kissmequick way. Rose Park is lovely, lookee here for a lovely rental. In fact most of those inner Eastern/Southern suburbs are very nice.

Look at Norwood, Unley, Kensington, Rose Park (very pretty), Malvern, etc etc do bear in mind that they are very popular and expensive, but perhaps that doesn't matter.

I live in the Adelaide hills so don't really know much about schools - unless you want to hear about private schools - most of my chums down there send their kids privately. How old are your children? Do you want to send them to be state or privately educated?

If you have any specific Adelaide q's I'll be happy to answer them (if I can).

Thank you for that. The school in rose park looks very good on paper and we are interested in the international learning aspect. Lao two good high schools in that area.
My dd's are 5 and 3. The oldest can start school as soon as the Easter break is over. 3 yr old can start kinder in July at the sane school so that's great. We looked at the hills as it looks great up there but dh wanted a short commute to the city.
How long have you been in Adelaide ??
We lived in melbourne for a year in 2009 and loved it hence the reason for coming back. Quite a few of my really good friends in Melbourne are mumsnetters funnily enough.

It is quite different from Melb though. Are you Aussies or Poms?

Poms. You ? Wel ooked at that house in rose park and finally got some response from the agent to say they were already considering two applications .
There are a few others around and we have the month in Glenelg. Just desperate to get dd into school as she is beyond bored !!!

I'm a pom and dh is full Aussie.

Shame about that house, it was so pretty. I'm sure something else will come up soon. I do sympathise about dd needing to be in school.

This is in http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-sa-malvern-405046984 which is South of the city but a good spot.

This pretty one is in http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-sa-norwood-405154152 which is near Rose Park, not as leafy, a bit more urban but Norwood is fun - lots of resturants and good shopping and about 3 mins from the city.

Norwood again, pretty garden.

Blow the budget on this one Great outdoors but hideous kitchen.

Hyde Park Nice again.

Unley love this, great spot. Bad curtains in lounge.

I couldn't get the links for a couple but bar the $1,100 we had also looked at most of them. Norwood looks good. Is the wine and food as good as it's advertised ??

Also, do you feel pretty isolated in the hills or have you made lots of friends. I think from research the high school is pretty good up there.
