what is it about Belgium and dog poop?

I know the UK is not perfect (far from it) and I have loved living here in Belgium - BUT - why is there so much dog poop? People think nothing of letting their dog do it in front of people's houses, in alleyways (in the middle of the path!). It is disgusting and one thing (aside from priority from the right and the failure to stop at pedestrian crossings) that I will not miss.

Off to Germany and hoping it is better there!

I agree, I recently threw away a shopping trolly on wheels because I'd dragged it through a load of dog shit.
The man next door (who has since moved away) used to let his dog shit on the footpath in front of our house. When I asked him not to, he said the road sweepers would move it.
We've lived here for six months now and I've not seen a road sweeper. I used to collect it and put it on his door step.

Er, sorry it's not better in Germany, not where I am anyway.

It's not just Belgium.
I have madwoman reputation because I have started dangling out of my (Italian) window photographing the dog owners who bring their dogs purposely to foul the small children's play area opposite. Then I shout "Just so I know whose house to come and shit outside when I next need one". It scares some of them off for weeks.

Ibiza and Majorca are covered in the stuff!

Actually, the UK believe it or not (but then I've never been to places like Singapore) which I know are mega clean) is about the best place I've ever lived in for people at least respecting others as far as dog shit is concerned.

And I can tell you it's soooo much better than when I arrived 26 years ago. I was horrified at how awful it was back then.

Not just dogs though, I am considering evicting Mr and Mrs Black from the bush in the front garden.
One of them has done three splatters of flying turd on my front door.

dog poo situation is definitely not better in Germany, sorry about that. You learn to zig zag along pavements with one eye always on the ground. Vile.

Can't get over the way people let their dog poop right outside those boardwalk restaurants and cafes where people are eating outdoors. No surreptiousness about it at all. Very blatant. You are in a for a treat
