has anyone delt with uk card debt from over seas? we are in aus. due to my not working and interest in the uk etc we have found paying off old debt in the uk was not getting anywhere. conversatio with c.a.b in the uk said ultimately they cant chase us but we could approach the card com[any and ask to make a contribution in exchange for interest freeze and then we shall pay more off as and when we can. they have come back saying they will freeze the interest if we pay 300 gbp a month... gulp.... till paid off. the c.a.b suggested 50 gbp... slight difference there.. just wondered if anyone else has been here?

Does the credit card company know you're in Australia and are you ever planning to come back to the UK?

yup they know we are in australia and no we are perm residents , bought a house no intention of returning.

Well in that case you're holding all the cards because they don't have any legal recourse that is feasible.

I would offer them what you can pay and see what they say.

Very honourable of you I must say Grin

Yeah, I would just agree a realistic monthly amount, set up a standing order for that amount, so they can see that you're committed to paying it back, and I would expect that they would accept that.
