American BBQs

Anyone know if it's worth us bringing our BBQ to Switzerland when we move next month? We live in the USA and bought a new one last year. Our apartment does have a terrace for it to stand on but I don't know if the fittings to the gas cylinder are compatible with Swiss ones.

We live in Brazil and someone gave us an american bbq; we had someone adapt it for us for local fittings, but things here are pretty relaxed (in regards to safety regulations). Not sure if it would be the same in Switzerland!!

I imagine the Swiss may not be so relaxed about BBQs taking place on terraces - sort of a wide open space thing, if at all TBH. Sorry.

Just found out about a store in new York that gives advice on using american electronics abroad. I'll see if they know anything about bbqs. We're renting an apartment that allows bbqs but must admit, I've not seen any of the " larger" sized american ones during our rental search a couple of weeks ago.

Am in France, not Switzerland, but you're definitely not allowed gas or wood BBQs on apartment terraces here. Would not go down well with the neighbours and you'll have the syndic onto your case in no time. I'd imagine they'd be even stricter in Switzerland!

If you have a weber you can switch out the gas fittings. Call them up and they will deliver the parts along with instructions on how to do it. Friends of ours moved to the UK and did this.
