DD has the day off school and I thought I would take her to the children's museum in Brussels and then out for some lunch.
Anyone up for it? Obviously she'd have to come I can't just leave her in the car (or can I)

I'm free for lunch!

charltonchick · 15/03/2011 17:27

instantfamily · 15/03/2011 17:36

have inlaws here. too bad I can't come.

Portofino · 15/03/2011 17:42

I can do lunch too!

RuthChan · 15/03/2011 18:24

I'd love to go, but won't be able to make it.
I hope you all have fun.

Portofino · 15/03/2011 19:11

Kreecher did you check the musee Des enfants is OPEN on a Friday - if that is where you meant? I thought it was Wed pm and weekends....

Pfaffingabout · 15/03/2011 19:38

Sorry. Wish I could come but now working full time. Have fun!

frazzlenz · 15/03/2011 20:13

oh oh I can for once. No inlaws, kids or other things to cramp my style!

Longtime · 15/03/2011 20:17

Porto's right, see here. Can you take her somewhere so we can still have lunch? Wink Grin

Portofino · 15/03/2011 20:25

The Natural History Museum and the Comic Strip one will definitely be open. Probably more suitable too. I would say the Musee des enfants is better for little children. Dd was still in her pushchair the last time we went. I never felt the urge to return.

RuthChan · 15/03/2011 20:40

Not sure if I can recommend the Comic Strip Museum.
It's not too bad, but seems to be more aimed at adults with an interest than at children.
There's a lot of reading. (all in French.)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 07:05

Ah, that might put a different spin on things. She is quite keen on gardening at the moment though, so I may take her to the botanical gardens.
Will check and post later, currently I am trying to get her dressed for school and it's 08.05 Angry

Ooh ooh, I'd love to come!!! Should be able to, but just need to figure out what on earth's going on for the rest of the week Hmm

Where would we go?

Longtime · 16/03/2011 09:15

Monkey, if we go to town, I'd advise you come here and we get the metro Wink. Mind you, the drive was worth it just to see that mad French man!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 09:23

OK, I think we'll go to the natural history one, then we can come and meet you later. Someone else will have to make the arrangements, me and DD will just go along with it.
I am so cross, she is off on Friday, then Monday and half of Tuesday. She only went back to school two days ago.

What was the Mexican you suggested at Porte de Namur Monkeybum? There is a very good Indian - Mumtaz - on the Chaussee de Wavre - neither would be that far from the Museum. Or there are few restaurants on the Place Jourdain....

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 10:34

Indian would be my choice. I will pick your brains further now. Should I drive from Antwerp or get the train? I think it takes about 45 minutes from our house to the centre of Bxls but I would prefer not to have to find parking.

Portofino · 16/03/2011 11:34

Personally I avoid driving into the centre of Brussels. There is a big underground car park near Brussels Central station I know, and you can park at the Museum. I leave my car in Evere and get the bus into town.

My friend works almost opposite this Bengali run restaurant. This area of Etterbeek has lot of Bengalis. The samosas sold across the road from this restaurant in the Bengali run convenience store are HEAVEN and only a euro each and huge for the price, home baked every day.

Just to put a big fat dampener on it, I won't be able to come. DH is off school that day but working on Saturday Angry so we'll be going out en famile.
Hopefully I'll get to meet you all before I leave.

:(

monkeybumsmum · 17/03/2011 16:38

Much as I'd love to, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it as I have to stay late at school tomorrow Sad So sorry! If the situation changes then I'll text you Porto...

Also, just looked, and that mexican place I suggested seems to have closed. Maybe Belgians just don't like mexican food Hmm There's always Chi-Chi's I suppose...

Enjoy lunch won't you, I will be sad not to be there. (Will try to wangle it so I can leave on time, but not sure this is going to work...)

monkeybumsmum · 17/03/2011 16:40

ps natation, have just looked at that menu, and it made my mouth water - yum yum!!!!

Portofino · 17/03/2011 17:56

Kreecher can't come either Sad I think we need to get ourselves en masse over to Antwerp, cause some kind of disturbance in the street so that Yum Yum Franky has to come and wave his truncheon at us! Grin

kreecherlivesupstairs · 18/03/2011 06:29

What a brilliant idea. Although we don't actually live in Antwerp, we are on the edge close to the Dutch border.
