Living overseas

So I shouted "I'm British, for God's sake" at AA call centrewoman when asked for id and burst into tears ...I want to go HOME!

Wherever that may be..I'd just like a temporary tardis trip back to my old life, exactly as it was, without all the packing.

think i'm in "resentment" stage of culture shock. It's bloody hard work sometimes, living overseas and having to be so damn NICE all the time so that people think you're all right. my new neighbour, however, has heard all the gory details and must think I'm truly mad..stressful business it all and no-one really to talk to Sad

Confused

where are you, and where might home be? Sounds like it's a bit of a nightmare right now...Sad

thanks, well I@m 1,000s of miles away, it's okay. Just moved again so hassle of repairs/unpacking/kids playing up I've just had my fill and want ot lie down in a darkened room, actually I might even do that rather than battle round the shops.

it's very bureaucratic here - you need full id for absolutely everything , had pleasure of dealing with these people 3 days in a row and they keep asking for the local national id which i obviously don't have, hence the "British for God's sake" comment Blush

lying in a darkened room sounds like a far better idea than battling round shops.

My parents chose to find the fact that they had to carry their 'alien registration' cards with them at all times amusing - otherwise it would have been too depressing for words. Getting then 10yo DB2 to carry (and not lose) his was another challenge entirely.
